The guy was like 6'2" I am only 5'8" and I was wondering if there is any advantage to having them? My friend wants to buy them from me for like 5 bucks for his bike because he is 6'1" Comfort when standing on the pegs. I need bar risers on all bikes because I'm 6'4", if I don't have them I'm all hunched over and my throttle/brake/clutch control go to carp. If they're just solid risers, they cost $20 brand new (sell em for $10), if they have rubber dampers to help with vibes, then they can cost upwards of $100... don't sell those for just $5. tall people like them. for shorties like us its actually a disadvantage. I was caught driving so I of course went to court and everything. I recieved a court order saying that I can't drive until I am of legal age. Can I still get my permit? I'm sixteen so I was guessing I could still.... the permit test doesn't entitle driving so I was thinking I could still get it... And could I still get my license after a year of having my permit? I know you have to drive during this test so I didn't know if I was able to or not... I don't even know if I can take the test because of the Joshua's law in Georgia stating that I have to have at least 40 hours of driving experience recorded and I'm not allowed to drive until I am of "legal age".... Could someone please shed light on my situation? I live in Georgia if that helps any.... laws might differ after all. If you need more details I can give you more! My boyfriend's 1992 GMC Sonoma broke down the other day and the guys at the auto shop said it was the motor, I guess it will need a new one and it will cost $1700 to get that done. That's more than the truck is even worth and we really don't have that much to put into it. To anyone who knows about these things, is that a reasonable cost or are they asking for too much? Car has been sitting for 10 years, recommendation on how to thoroughly clean the body of the car? I bought a 1984 Porsche 944, about 2 months ago. Got it running after hours of working on it, the previous owner has had it in his garage since 2001. The car in general is in mint condition, engine, body and interior. Bottom line is I want to restore the car to the best condition I can (excluding repainting the car), only using products or methods. -Body Paint (Glossy Black). -15 inch alloy wheels (Black). -Leather Interior (Black, want to strengthen and revive the leather). -Dashboard (Black). Now going into something a little more complicated, I want to THOROUGHLY clean the car's exhaust, get rid of all the gunk that's been sitting in it; I mean it runs fine, but I just want to give the car a fine tuning. Any thoughts or ideas which may help improve the car's look or even performance (even though I have that covered pretty much). car insurance. Auto parts : Rod Splitting Fixture Dodge 2005. Peugeot . How to Replace a Timing Belt on a 1998 Dodge Grand CaravanThe 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan features a 3.0L V6 engine. This engine is an interference engine, which means that if the belt stretches past the scope of the tensioner, the valves will most likely hit the pistons and cause extensive engine damage. Dodge has not recommended a specific interval at which you should change the timing belt, but previous use and service history shows that the belt should be changed every 60,000 miles. Difficulty:Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Set of wrenches Floor jack Set of sockets Torque wrench Step by Step : 1 Disconnect the battery ground cable with the appropriate wrench and lay it to the side, but do not allow it to touch metal. Slide the floor jack under the oil pan and jack it up just so it touches the bottom of the oil pan, to support the engine. Loosen the accessory drive belt tensioners using the appropriate sockets, then lift the accessory drive belts off the pulleys. The tensioners, belts and pulleys are on the front of the engine. Remove the crankshaft pulley and damper using the appropriate sockets. The crankshaft pulley is located on the crankshaft at the bottom of the engine. 2 Remove the right engine mount, the timing belt covers and the sprocket flange using the appropriate sockets. 3 Turn the crankshaft clockwise until the timing marks are lined up. The timing mark on the crankshaft lines up at the 1 o'clock position. The timing mark on the right camshaft (as you are looking down at the engine) is at the 11 o'clock position, and the timing mark on the left camshaft is at the 1 o'clock position. 4 Loosen the tensioner bolt. Turn the tensioner counterclockwise. Tighten the bolt to hold it in place. Lift the timing belt off the sprockets and the pulleys. Check that the timing marks are still lined up. 5 Install the timing belt in a counterclockwise direction, starting on the crankshaft sprocket. While keeping tension on the belt, route it over the top of the right camshaft sprocket, under the water pump pulley, over the top of the left camshaft sprocket and behind the tensioner. 6 Loosen the tensioner bolt, allowing the tensioner to put tension on the belt. Turn the crankshaft clockwise two turns until the timing marks line up again. Tighten the tensioner bolt to 18 foot-pounds of torque. Install the sprocket flange, the timing belt covers and the right engine mount with the appropriate sockets. Reinstall the belts by routing them around the pulleys. Tighten the tensioners with the appropriate sockets. Reinstall the crankshaft pulley. Tighten the crankshaft bolt to 112 foot-pounds of torque. Tighten the crankshaft pulley-to-damper bolts to 18 foot-pounds of torque.
Peugeot . How to Replace a Kia Timing BeltThe 1995 through 1999 Kia Sportage uses a 2.0L engine, which is an interference engine. This means that the engine was built with such close tolerances, that should the timing belt stretch past the scope of the tensioner, the valves will most likely hit the pistons and cause extensive engine damage. For this reason, Kia recommends replacing the timing belt every 60,000 miles. It takes about three hours to replace the timing belt, and no special tools are needed. Difficulty:Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Set of wrenches Set of sockets Torque wrench Step by Step : 1 Disconnect the negative battery cable and lay it aside, ensuring that it does not touch metal. Remove the crankshaft pulley bolts using the appropriate socket. Loosen the accessory drive belt tensioners using the appropriate sockets or wrenches to ease the tension on the belts. Lift the belts off the pulleys. Remove the timing belt covers using the appropriate sockets. 2 Turn the crankshaft clockwise until the "2" on the camshaft sprocket lines up with the mark at the 12 o'clock position. The crankshaft timing mark should be lined up once the "2" mark lines up. Loosen the tensioner retaining bolt. Push the tensioner away from the belt, then tighten the bolt enough to hold the tensioner out of the way. 3 Remove the belt guide plate from the crankshaft sprocket. Lift the timing belt off the sprockets. Loosen the tensioner bolt. Remove the tensioner spring. Measure the spring. If the measurement is not 2.24 inches, replace the spring. Spin the tensioner and guide pulleys. If they make noise or have any resistance, replace them. 4 Install the tensioner spring. Push the tensioner against the spring pressure. Tighten the tensioner bolt enough to keep the tensioner in place. Make sure the timing marks are still lined up. 5 Install the timing belt, working in a counterclockwise direction, starting on the crankshaft sprocket. Keeping the belt taut on the non-tensioned side, route the belt over the water pump pulley, behind the guide pulley, over the camshaft, then behind the tensioner pulley. 6 Loosen the tensioner bolt and allow the tensioner to put tension on the bolt. Turn the crankshaft clockwise two turns. Tighten the tensioner bolt to 32 foot-pounds of torque. Check that the timing marks are still lined up. 7 Apply a load of 22 pounds to the belt halfway between the camshaft sprocket and the guide pulley. The belt should deflect 0.3 to 0.34 inches. If not, repeat the tensioning process (Step 6). 8 Install the guide plate, making sure the convex side is toward the timing belt. Install the rest of the parts in reverse order of removal. Tighten the crankshaft pulley bolts to 10 foot-pounds of torque. *Your clutch can be good for 5,000 to 50,000 miles. This wide variation depends on the type of vehicle, the way you drive it, and how much maintenance it receives. The clutch may last for as many as 100,000 miles, or it may break down after only 10,000. If you have a clutch disk replaced, have the pressure plate and the flywheel checked at that time to be sure that they aren't badly worn. Here's what should probably be done in each case: * If the flywheel is worn, have a professional resurface it. This procedure involves grinding it down to a new, flat surface and then polishing it to a mirror-like finish. If you fail to have this work done, the worn flywheel can wear out the facing of the new clutch disk very quickly. And if you've already had the disk replaced, chances are that it managed to score the flywheel by the time you recognized the trouble signs and had the disk attended to. 0 If the pressure plate is excessively worn, scored, or glazed, you should 797

If you replace it with a rebuilt unit, you can turn in your old one and receive credit for a core charge. If the springs on the pressure plate become loose, have them replaced. Because excessive wear on any part of your clutch results in wear on the other parts, it's generally a good idea to have the clutch assembly, levers, clutch disk, and throwout bearings checked and, if necessary, replaced at the same time. You can also have the pilot bearing (located where the crankshaft meets the flywheel) checked then, too, which saves you money on labor charges by eliminating the necessity of getting into your clutch and putting it back together a second time. To save yourself from paying for unnecessary R&R (which means removal and repair, not rest and relaxation!), keep this good practice in mind when dealing with other parts of your vehicle as well: If the technicians have to open your transmission, ask them to check the whole thing and replace gaskets and other parts that look as though they're about to go. If they have to open your cylinder head or get into the engine, make sure that they look for potential trouble from the rest of the stuff in there. Part III: Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System Don't give them carte blanche to replace anything they please. Tell them that you want to see the parts that are wearing before they proceed with any unauthorized work. But do keep in mind that a good chunk of the labor cost is associated with just taking stuff apart and putting it back together, so if the mechanics have to do R&R only once, you save money. If your vehicle is equipped with a hydraulic clutch, don't forget to check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder. It's just like checking the fluid in your brake master cylinder, which I discuss in Chapter 18. Undertaking Transmission Repairs Wisely Peugeot . Saturn S-Series. * Your first line of defense against unnecessary transmission work is to have your automatic transmission serviced periodically, according to the manufac turer's recommendations (usually around every 24,000 miles).
